Wednesday 26 May 2010 was a special day for Fareham East and especially for the DC and two young members of the Sea Dragons Explorer Unit. Ben Davis and Naomi Watson were invited along to HMS Bristol at HMS Excellent at Whale Island in Portsmouth for the signing of the MOA Agreement between the Scout Association (represented by UK's Chief Commissioner Wayne Bulpit) and the 2nd Sea Lord Vice Admiral Sir Alan Massey.
The MOA Agreement is set up for the Royal Navy to support 101 recognised Sea Scout Groups throughout the U.K.
Ben and Naomi were invited along following the 2nd Sea Lords visit to the 2nd Fareham RN Inspection where he presented the Districts' first Queens Scout Award for many years to Alex Lester.
He was so impressed with his first visit to any Scout Group that he invited 2 representatives along to this ceremony.
After the signing, lunch was served in the Wardroom and then everyone was given a guided tour of the ships facilities and shown what the Navy does for these Groups.
Pictures are of the signing and of the Explorers with Wayne and the 2nd Sea Lord.
