Well 2010 has started off in an amazing way to see so many Young People, Leaders and Supporters getting involved in Scouting. We certainly have shown the local community that Scouting is alive and growing in Fareham East. Over the next year I would like the District Theme to be World of Adventure and it would be good to see all sections working together. In Scouting we are all equals none of us are any higher than the rest I may be DC but I am the same as the next leader but I have to make sure that we are all doing the job Scouting is all about and some decisions are very difficult to make. We are entrusted by the Parents and Guardians to look after their young children, 2009 has been a hard year with various issues to be dealt with but we have come through it ok with I have to say some sadness where an amicable solutions can’t be reached. 2010 is now well underway it’s great to see that this coming weekend we have every Cub Pack in the District is taking part which excellent and the winners will be going on to represent the District at the County Six a Side tournament later this month. I hope you will all come along to the District Meeting on Monday 8th March at 15th Fareham HQ. This meeting is most about the Awareness weekend in April when we take over Fareham Precinct to prompt scouting and recruitment of Leaders we need every Groups support on this weekend. Also there are the new swimming fact sheet and the new home contact In Touch system which I want to launch very shortly but if you have any comments you wish me to pass to HQ then please address them at the meeting. I am please to let you all know that following our meeting with the Scout Fellowship last week we are hoping that we can now move the changes to be launched sometime in November this year when Fellowship becomes Fareham Active Support. I feel this is very important for us to involve the system to the best of our advantage so please do support this by asking them for any help you need. The Fellowship will continue as they have for many years and its just a name change with a more supportive role to Groups. One item from the changes in Fellowship are that some people abbreviate this to SAS and that is one reason they have opted for Fareham Active Support as using this SAS terminology is in very poor taste and upsets many families in our area due to Fareham being very much a military area. So I would ask everyone to please not use this term SAS when talking to or about these changes. I am now looking for nominations for the four main Alf Breeze Awards for Beaver, Cub, Scout and Explorer of the Year again do you have anyone in your sections that come into that category please send your nominations and reports to me as soon as possible we shall present these awards at the District AGM in May. I am also looking to fill various District Roles if any of you are Interested please let me know. One area we are looking at is to restructure and get it working well is Network and anyone who may feel they could be a Network Leader please come and talk to me we have had a meeting and want to move this forward. Yours in Scouting,
