Armistice Day Parade 2008 Thanks
Congratulations to all who attended the Armistice Day Parade on Sunday 9th. I think it was the biggest and best turnout ever, (close to 300 all told of you). At the Mayor's Reception after the church service I was receiving compliments on your behalf from the Mayor and several other dignataries including our District Chairman about how smart you all looked and how well you conducted yourselves during the ceremony.
My thanks too, to the flag and wreath bearers who did their task well and especially to Paul Rutter for organising the parade inside the church grounds.
Give yorselves a BRAVO - very well done.
Ron Stead (Parade Marshall)
Hi to every member of Fareham East District,
I would like to commend the members of 3rd Portchester who attended there own Remembrance Parade the weather was somewhat awful but everyone still turned out and very smart you are as well.
I today also witnessed the most wonderful sight that any District Commissioner would be proud of, on attending my first Armistice Day Parade and I always give credit where it’s due.
The turn out on today’s Parade was fantastic you were all so smartly turned out and all those young people were very well behaved even through the long ceremony the Beavers and Cubs were impeccably well behaved. To see so many parents supporting their children was fantastic.
To see all the Groups and Units in the District attending was exceptional so I ask that you please pass on my thanks and comments to all your members who attended both Parades in Portchester on Saturday and Fareham Sunday.
I would also like to thank Natasha Miller and Joshua Pratt who were our Wreath Laying Party very well done to you both. To Paul Rutter for organising the Scouts in the church grounds.
After my comments over the last few weeks over Uniform and needing to try to improve our standards this weekend has shown me that I have moved into a District to be proud of being your DC as this epitomises what Scouting is all about and you are all a credit to our Movement and to the Fareham District “WELL DONE”
Tony Parkinson
District Commissioner
