May I take this opportunity to wish you all in Fareham East a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year for 2009. Since moving to this District from the small area I had before in New Forest South it has been a great challenge for me to move into an area where I new very few people but was welcomed so warmly into this position it has been a fantastic opportunity for me. My personal thanks go to Peter Moody for his unreserved support since I took up this post. I also wish to thank my District Team for there great support too. We have worked through various changes to move this district forward and I truly believe we are well on the way to being great for scouting in this area the achievements of our members has been exceptional. We have of course had our ups and downs to but on the whole we have come through these times unscathed which are all credit to you running your sections and having the skills to overcome difficult times. I have had various issues to deal with that have been very difficult to resolve and I am hoping to put some suggestions to you all in the New Year and with your support we can try to ensure that we don’t get these sort of things happening in the future. We also must not forget that we are all volunteers working with these young people sometimes there are changes that we don’t agree with and find it hard to make the changes after so long and believe it or not I am one of those people. But when we all work together our aims are all for the same outcome to work with young people giving them the enjoyment and fun of Scouting and for this I thank you all for the hours and hours you all as Leaders put into Scouting in Fareham East. Our thoughts must go out at this time to the families of Alan Newman and our District President Alf Breeze who have sadly passed away in recent months and we wish them well through this difficult time of the year. I didn’t have the knowledge of the rest of you on these two fine Scouting friends but their contribution to Hampshire Scouting has been tireless. So we now move towards the year 2009 the 100th Year of Sea Scouting and many things ahead for the District. Do all take this time out over the Christmas and New Year to reflect on another brilliant year in Scouting in Fareham East and not too much Turkey and Wine? Regards
